This SafeCert PMVA Principles Award or SafeCert Award in Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression Principles (RQF Level 2/ SafeCert) gives employees working in stressful environments in close contact with the public the knowledge to keep themselves safe.
Qualification Details
This qualification complies with the guidelines and criteria as defined by the NICE and RCN in respect of the guidance given to these that may encounter violence and or aggression in the workplace.
The award has two units as follows:
Unit 1 – Principles of Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression – This unit has four learning outcomes as follows:
- Understand the need for the prevention and management of violence and aggression
- Identify the requirements of the laws that govern the prevention and management of violence and aggression in the workplace
- Know how to conduct a risk assessment
- Understand the assault cycle and the effective use of communication
Unit 2 – Physical Interactions in Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression – This unit has three learning outcomes as follows:
- Understand the principles of the use of restraints
- Know the psychological and physiological risk factors of physical interaction
- Be able to apply physical interaction skills safely
This award is assessed through a multiple choice questionnaire theory assessment or each unit plus a practical observation skills test. The duration of this qualification must be a minimum of 2 days with a minimum of 12 contact hours.
The course must be completed within 10 weeks from starting and each session must be a minimum of 2 hours
